Description
Jesuit Kevin O’Brien says, “God is found in the real, so we pray from what is real in our lives.” What he means by this is: Jesus Christ bore real human flesh and lived a real human life in real time, just like we do. This reminds us God honors the realness of our lives, too. Through these four sessions, groups lean into Ignatian Spirituality to learn ways to better encounter God in the real stuff of life. After all, this is exactly what happened for Jacob in Genesis 28, when he ran away and napped on a stone; right then, Jacob finds God and proclaims, “Surely the Lord is in this place and I did not know it!” This curriculum uses Ignatian Spirituality, along with Jacob’s awe-inspiring moment in Genesis 28:16 when God surprised him in the real, to re-orient members to the incredible truth that God waits to encounter them in the realness of their lives, too.
